The Sounding Board
A source of stability who is not shaken by life’s ups & downs.
About The Sounding Board
Staying stable & calm amidst uncertainty
You don’t get worked up about things other people do or say & generally don’t understand why others can get so stressed.
The ups & downs of life rarely show up that way on your radar. For you, it rarely feels like life is overwhelming or that your well-being is threatened in any way.
Sometimes this also means that you may not be as emotionally connected to others because you don’t feel a need to discuss concerns with other people.
The Sounding Board working remote
In the age of increased uncertainty & isolation, understanding your personality allows you to navigate remote work based on your unique strengths as you face new opportunities and threats.
The Sounding Board
The Sounding Board is available to look life in the eye because they don’t fear it.
Their ability to face stress head-on empowers them to venture into the unknown in ways that others simply cannot or do not want to. When the winds of life pick up, they provide a calm & reasoned approach to it. That’s why they are the Sounding Board.
When in a well-functioning group:
The Sounding Board’s steadiness provides a sense of comfort that others rely upon. Every group benefits by having someone who is not easily overwhelmed by most any situation, someone who can provide a non-anxious presence to the group.
By virtue of their calm nature, the Sounding Board empowers others to feel less afraid about whatever lies ahead, known or unknown. The group as a whole operates at a much higher level because many of the individuals’ underlying fears are put at ease.
This is a wonderful recipe for group success because each person is more able to function at their best.
When they are out of sync with others:
The Sounding Board’s ability to remain unaffected by life’s stresses creates distance & separation from those around them.
Instead of calm, they come across as unavailable & maybe even standoffish. This may not be intentional, but if not careful, the Sounding Board can slip into thinking that they can do it all by themselves.
It’s somewhat normal to feel that way when you really don’t think there are any big deals. So knowing when and how to include others in the flow of life’s challenges can be a challenge for them.
